In this unit we will complete the following:
Textbook reading on energy and energy resources, answering questions on worksheets 15.1-15.4

Below is an excellent video on the impacts of coal mining and ways to conserve and use alternative energy resources.

Pigeon Information

I contacted the National Pigeon Association about the white pigeon at our school.  Check out the link for more information.  We need to try to read a few more numbers on the leg band.

Our Osprey Have Returned!

Monday, March 18, 2013
One osprey was observed flying over Smithtown High School West campus at 7am. This afternoon the pair was observed rebuilding their nest. Most of the nest has been blown away by our crazy storms this year starting with super storm Sandy and ending the the blizzard of 2013.
We had hoped to have a nesting platform installed before their return, but were unable to make all the connections in time. Hopefully we can make arrangements for next fall.
